Hello,
I’m currently in the process of integrating the Brevo Conversations Chatbot into my website, which primarily serves users in the EU. I’m keen on staying compliant with GDPR while minimizing the need for a cookie banner. My goal is to use the chatbot in a way that respects user privacy without triggering the requirement for consent pop-ups.
Here’s my current understanding and a few questions I hope you can help clarify:
Currently as of my understanding:
- The Brevo Conversations Chatbot sets functional cookies (AWSALBCORS) that, as far as I know, do not collect personal data unless explicitly provided by the user (e.g., name, email).
- No tracking, analytics, or marketing cookies are involved with the basic operation of the chatbot.
- User consent is sought before any personal data collection when they voluntarily provide information like names and emails.
Questions
- Does a functional cookie used solely for the chatbot’s operation (without personal data) still trigger the need for a cookie banner in the EU?
- Have anybody of you managed to embed the Brevo Conversations Chatbot without a cookie banner while staying GDPR compliant?
- What specific strategies or configurations would you recommend to ensure that user privacy is respected and consent is managed properly?
Like is it possible to show a consent dialog when clicking the chat widget in the bottom corner before showing the chat?.
Thanks in advance for your help!
