For the purposes of Brevo do —> {{ contact.FIRSTNAME }}, —>{{contact.FIRSTNAME}}, do the same thing? 2nd version has spaces removed. (for all merge fields)

Yes @appcrazee both are correct 
If you put spaces it’s more easily readable, but both work
