Preventing multiple registrations with the same email address

Hello everyone,

I’m using brevo to manage registrations for a chess tournament and I’ve run into a problem. Despite clear instructions in the registration form, it happens repeatedly that participants register several different people with the same email address. This leads to data being overwritten and important information being lost.

I’m looking for a solution to fix this problem. Ideally, brevo could perform a check before overwriting the data to see if the email address has already been used. If so, an error message should be displayed informing the participant that they need to use a different email address or edit the existing registration.

Is there a way to implement such a check in brevo or does anyone know a workaround? I’m grateful for any help!

I am having the same problem. Strangely enough Brevo does this with the phone number (attribute: SMS). And I could swear that in another account for another project Brevo has forbidden me to re-register via form because my email address was already in the database. But I might be misremembering that.
